Maintaining Your Dentures

It is important for patients to keep their removable partial or full dentures in good shape, even after relining. Doing so will help extend the life of your appliance and avoid any additional costs you might incur down the road.

Practice high standards of oral hygiene when wearing your new relining material. This includes brushing and rinsing with toothpaste and flossing daily. Be sure to use a soft-bristled toothbrush and gentle circular motions when cleaning your dentures.

Denture relining is a necessary procedure that helps maintain your denture's overall health and function. By following these simple tips, you can keep your appliance in good condition for years to come. If you have any other questions about denture maintenance or would like to book an appointment, get in touch with us today.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much do dentures cost?

It depends on how many teeth are being extracted and replaced as well as the material your dentures are being made of. It's best to arrange a consultation to receive an accurate figure.

  • How should I clean my dentures?

Once a day, remove your dentures and rinse them under water. We recommend using a denture brush and warm water and gently scrub the surfaces. It is important to soak your dentures in a cleaning solution overnight or for as long as possible if you need to sleep with your dentures in. It is normal to need to rinse your teeth after eating.

  • Why are my dentures loose?

Bone resorption is one of the most common causes of loose dentures. As your gums no longer need to support your teeth, they can begin to shrink. A reline service should be able to help.

  • Should I still brush my gums if I have full dentures?

It is recommended you gently go over your gums, cheek, tongue and the roof of your mouth with a soft-bristle toothbrush daily.

  • Can I sleep with my dentures in?

In theory, you can but we recommend you remove your dentures at night to give your gums time to rest.
